Nomination Requirements

  • Between the ages of 12-24 when applying.
  • Live within Frederick County.
  • Must be able to participate in, at least, one monthly Youth Council meeting (meetings will be held both in person and virtually)
  • Commit to a one-year term on the Youth Council from January – December 2024.

Benefits of Serving on the Council (but not limited to):

  • Meeting like-minded, community-oriented youth to spark positive change in Frederick County.
  • Pursuit of the passions of youth in the community whether that be legislative policy, beautifying parks, educational opportunities, or volunteerism.
  • Professional development through enhancing communication, leadership, collaboration, and advocacy skills.
  • Opportunity to influence the creation and design of the Downtown Youth Hub building.
  • Stipend payment to compensate youth for their participation.

Nomination and application process: what to expect

  • Know a youth or a young adult who would be a great candidate?
  • Let your nominee know that you plan to nominate them and encourage them to apply!

Following the submission of the nomination form, the youth nominee, yourself, and their guardian will receive an email notification to confirm that their nomination was received. Youth will then be asked to fill out a brief application form before being scheduled for an interview.

  • Nominations open November 13 - December 1
  • Following the submission of the nomination form, the youth nominee, person placing the nomination, and the youth’s guardian will receive an email notification to confirm that their nomination was received. Youth will then be asked to fill out a brief application form before being scheduled for an interview. Applications will be open from November 28, 2023 - January 2, 2024.
  • In preparation for the Interview, Goodwill will be providing optional sessions at their new Career Center located at 1750 Monocacy Blvd to help youth with resume writing, mock-interviews, and a gift card to select an interview outfit to look their best! Interview prep sessions will be offered in January 2024. 
  • Youth will be invited to participate in an interview between January 15-21, 2024 (location TBD).
  • January-February 2024: First Inaugural Youth Council Meeting
